Shinsuke Yamanaka (20-0-2, 15) may be widely regarded as the best Bantamweight on the planet though even the best can improve, as he's found out this week.
On Sunday Yamanaka, the WBC Bantamweight champion, flew out the US for a Stateside training camp. Since being there he has worked with Cuban trainer Ismael Salas and already started to improve.
Known for having the "left of god", his straight left, the southpaw champion has been working hard on improving his right hook. With Salas's teaching it's expected that Yamanaka will utilise the right hand more effectively in his upcoming title defense as he attempts to become a more complete fighter.
Whilst he's learning more about boxing in the US Yamanaka is also viewing this whole camp as a chance to get used to American conditions. This includes getting used to the time difference, the general differences in culture and of course food differences. So far he appears to have adapted well and met up with some familiar faces in the form of Ryota Murata and Takahiro Ao, as seen in the picture, who are both over in US trying to get some additional training themsevles.
