In an action packed card headlined be the Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder 23 (KO 23) -0 -0 all of his wins coming by way of knockout have all of us boxing fans tuned in to see if that KO streak will remain intact as he takes on Kerston “Warrior” Manswell 22 (KO 17) -5 (KO 2) -0. Wilder has been in the weight room more lately as he wants to bulk up that massive frame, has he’s been criticized lately for looking to thin at weigh-ins. Manswell is entering the ring tonight at the heaviest he as boxed at. Over the last week Manswell has started a war of word that has created some bad blood between the two boxers. Manswell claims he will end the KO streak and Wilder is not for real. Wilder has remained calm and will leave his talking for inside the ring tonight. This bout is going to be a slug fest or it’s going to be another quick outing for “The Bronze Bomber”. On the undercard we have another undefeated rising star Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez who is 18-0 stepping up to meet one of his bigger challenges when he faces’ veteran Leivi Brea. Where in for a great night of boxing in Mobile, Alabama boxing fans.

Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez 18 (KO 13) -0 -0 vs. Leivi Brea 19 (KO 10) -9 (KO 6) -3
8 rounds in the featherweight division.

With both boxers in ring the stare down is intense as you get the feeling Leivi Brea wants to hand Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez his first loss. And we have the opening bell both come out at a slow pace; even with the feeling out period Velez has let Brea taste his power with his left jab. But Leivi Brea is a crafty veteran who has kept Jayson Velez honest by switching from orthodox to southpaw. We have a good fight developing tonight with either boxer being able to but their punches together, but Velez has shown he as good foot speed by cutting off the ring and digging to the body more often. Through rounds 2 to 5 we seen the pot shots continue, but to the credit of Velez his body punches have started to wear down and making Brea feel uncomfortable. The 5th has been Jayson Velez’s best round as he has figured out Brea’s timing and has displayed his boxing skills throughout the round catching Leivi Brea with more combinations and power shots. Now into the start of round 6 and it appears Brea has caught a second wind and is now show cases his boxing skills, both boxer are battling along the ropes and Velez has thrown a volley of punches and just connected with a perfectly timed left hook and Brea is down, and it’s all over Jayson Velez has just knockout Leivi Brea with a perfectly placed left hook. The official time of the win for Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez is 1:37 of the 6th round. That left hook will make the high light reels around the boxing world! Jayson Velez remains undefeated and improves to 18 (KO 14) -0 -0 and will certainly move up the ranking with this hard fought victory and Leivi Brea falls to 19 (KO 10) -10 (KO 7) -3. What impressed me the most tonight with Jayson “La Maravilla” Velez’s victory was it was earned the hard way. He had to face a tough veteran boxer in Leivi Brea. Jayson Velez show intelligence, resilience, and heart! This bout earns 4 out of 5 stars and my fight of the night award!

Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder 23 (KO 23) -0 -0 vs. Kerston “Warrior” Manswell 22 (KO 17) -5 (KO 2) -0
10 rounds in the heavyweight division.

Kerston Manswell is waiting in the ring and he knows his opponent is in on this way as the crowd has irrupted into a frenzy to welcome the Alabama favorite as he makes his way to the ring. Both have been given their instructions and the stare down was not a very friendly, as the two have no love loss after a week of bitter words started by Kerston Manswell. We have an opening bell and Deontay Wilder came out and establishes his jab quickly and follows them up with powerful left hands. Kerston Manswell was unable to mount any type of attack or defense tonight. As he knocked down Manswell 3 times with powerful left hooks set up by the crisp accurate right jabs of “The Bronze Bomber”. It was the powerful left hook to the head that sent Manswell to the canvass for the 3rd and final time to end his night. The official time of the stoppage was 2:10 of the 1st round declaring Deontay Wilder the winner by TKO. All the critics will come out of the wood work and say Wilder has yet to fight a big name, he’s never had his chin touch, he talks too much like Ali, etc. Well let’s not forget this young man has natural power, fast hands and feet. He learns quick, and most important he was the last American to win an Olympic medal. And in my books he can talk like anyone he wants till someone beats him. Deontay Wilder remains undefeated and keeps his knockout record intact improves to 24 (KO 24) -0 -0 and the all talk no action Kerston Manswell drops to 22 (KO 17) -6 (KO 3) -0. If he would have been touched tonight that being Wilder it would have been fight of the night! Wilders buzz saw attack earns this bout 3 ¾ out of 5 stars.

Dmitriy “Star Of David” Salata 33 (KO 17) -1 (KO 1) -1 vs. Roberto “El Viejo” Valenzuela 65 (KO 54) -62 (KO 31) -2
8 rounds in the light welterweight division.

Both boxers have made their way into the ring for an interesting bout as youth meets age in this swing bout. The veteran may have the advantage as Salata has been out of the ring. We have the open bell and the ring rust Salata came in with has not surface as he jumps all over Valenzuela immediately landing hard body punches, which have taken a toll on Roberto Valenzuela. Through rounds 2 and 3 Dmitriy Salata as been able to put everything together going upstairs and downstairs, in the last closing seconds Salata lands a 4 punch combination that ends with a hard left hook to the head of Valenzuela sending him to the canvass, Valenzuela made the count. In between rounds you can see the defeated look on Roberto Valenzuela face. Right from the opening bell to start round 4 Dmitriy Salata has jumped all over the older Valenzuela. Earning Dmitriy Salata a KO victory early in the 4th round over journeyman Roberto Valenzuela. The biggest news of this bout came outside the ring after the bout. It so happened 1 of the members of the broadcast crew was current WBA World welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi; the two boxers had a friendly ring side interview after the bout. Many believe this was all to set up a future all Brooklyn matchup between the two. As recently the mane of once undefeated  and top contender Dmitriy Salata name has come up, tonight the win was needed to shake the rust off and it just so happened the guest color commentator was Paul Malignaggi. Coincident or conspiracy? Dmitriy “Star Of David” Salata did improve to 34 (KO 18) -1 (KO 1) -1 tonight and gets his name back into the title talks and superman or journeyman Roberto “El Viejo” Valenzuela drops to 65 (KO 54) -63 (KO 32) -2. This bout was lopsided and was made for Dmitriy Salata to shake the rust off. It earns 2 ½ stars out of 5.
